First passage alone ...

22/08/2018

We had a great passage to the Canary Islands. Not much wind at first, but this means a great moment to try the water. 25°C not bad, we slowly feel the warmth of the South ๐Ÿ˜‹

Louise asks her daddy: "Why don't you put the fishing line in the water?"
Dad answers: "Because the fish won't bite."
Louise: "And out of the water they will?"
๐Ÿ˜‚

It only took us four days and three nights nights and we immediately arrived in strong winds at an uninhabited island North of the Canaries: Isla de Alegranza. It's a great feeling to see land, I cannot even imagine what the feeling must be after two or three weeks at sea ๐Ÿ˜ณ

This was a great anchorage for one night, but we decided to find a more people friendly environment. As Anna mentioned: "this is a beach where the seagulls keep having a party!".

So on our way for Graciosa Island: playa Francesa.

We're wondering what landscape we'll find a bit further. Until now only lunar, very dry land. By lack of dolphins, flying fish keep us happy ๐Ÿ˜›

And we learn to drive the boat, under supervision this time ๐Ÿ˜Š.

The bay of Playa Francesa (with a view of Lanzarote), where we end up staying a week.
Lots of firsts this week: the first night we slept like babies; we tried our paddleboard and kayak for the first time and we started school for the first time (on demand of the girls).
It's a great anchorage, however from 11am to 3pm, you need to accept the invasion of big party boats. Not a problem, since it's siesta time during those hours anyway ๐Ÿ˜Ž. Also you have to endure 25 to 35 knots of wind every evening and night. During the day it gets down to 15 knots.

In the evenings we are planning our stay in the Canaries. It's really hard work and difficult to make decisions! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜ณ
Bob Marley is singing: ๐ŸŽถ Everything is gonna be allright ..
Yep I guess it will ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Off course you can't leave an island without at least one walk. So we decide to get up the volcano. Wonderful view, one hour up and we got blown away at the top (literally!).

We also visited Puerto de Caleta de Sebo, which seems a nice little harbour in case you want a break from the wind ๐Ÿ˜. As we were still new to the Canaries, this was not (yet) a problem for us ๐Ÿ˜‰
