Fraser Island part 2 & behind the scenes of LouiseAnna

So I promised you some pictures of Fraser Island. We were only able to spend one day, but you can easily enjoy a whole week!
First of all, you need a good car. And knowing how these cars are wrecked, I would rent one ๐Ÿ˜

It's fun ...
... but very uncomfortable. especially at the end of the day!
Not easy to find your way ... No, Google maps is not giving accurate coverage here ๐Ÿ˜‰
And just hope not too many cars come in the opposite direction ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜
First stop: Lake McKenzie. A bit too much wind to enjoy the usually extreme transparent water. And we're a bit too late to avoid the tourist rush, but still nice !

Hup to the next stop: Central Station. An old logging village in a very nice forest. Luckily they left some giants for us to admire!

Amazing how many Cockatoos there are in Australia. We saw them in packs of hundreds birds, but this one was quite happy to pose on his own! ๐Ÿ˜œ

And now we head for Eurong. The Pacific Ocean side of Fraser. While getting a coffee and ice cream break, some giant lizard strolls besides Louise and Anna ๐Ÿ˜

And from here, you can travel along the beach.
It's a bit of a high way!
You can do 80 km/h. I can assure you it's really bumpy when you do that!
And off course nobody walks here. You have the occasional camp area and ... landing strip!

This is the furthest we could go on one day: the stranded Maheno passenger ship.

The police does control this area as do the seagulls ๐Ÿ˜
Last stop of the day: Eli Creek. Not really THE enchanted place, but I guess if you have your swimsuit it could be fun.
Basically you walk up a track and then get in the river to "slide or float" back ๐Ÿ˜Ž A natural theme park... We did go in without swimsuit off coarse and met a Belgian couple from Bruges! Of all places in the world!

I guess you can see why I call it a themepark ๐Ÿ˜

And with some thumbs up, we're heading back!

Before venturing back to LouiseAnna, we shake off the dust and enjoy a delicious meal in the Kingfisher resort.
The way back in the dark was hilarious. Do you remember the tiny crabs that were all over the sandbank in the previous post? Well getting back to Bob, was only possible while crushing millions of these poor animals under your feet. Geoffrey gave me the flashlight which only attracted them more ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ My dear husband also felt embarrassed as I was screaming (like crazy) and unable to get to Bob. But just try to walk on top of these minicrabs with Louise holding on to one leg and Anna to the other ! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜Œ

18th December 2019. It's time to head South where my sister in-law will join us for Christmas. Waking up we notice extra visitors again. They are very cute, but sooooo dirty!

The advantage of having Papy and Mamy on board is that we now have several clips of a "regular day" on LouiseAnna ๐Ÿ˜‡ So here it comes, cruising towards a new anchorage:
Crossing big clouds of smoke...
More fires!

And beautiful pelicans ...

Dropping anchor:
And enjoying the rest of the afternoon:
19th of December 2019. Last stop before crossing the bar: Pelican Bay. "The bar" is like really important in Australia. Many places (lagoons, rivers, ...) have bars you need to cross. There not as much fun as we usually associate to that word. Basically a bar is a shallow strip of sandbanks you have to cross. With too many waves, you get crushed to the bottom of the sea. too much current and you can't get out at all. So you have to time it right!
We haven't seen this many boats in weeks ๐Ÿ˜…

That's the bar you need to cross...

Pelican Bay is quite pretty, especially the ocean side.

And suddenly you see why it's called Pelican Bay! ๐Ÿ˜

It just sits there.

And then comes storming back ๐Ÿ˜Ž

We were just gone one hour, but we'll have to carry Bob quite far, to be able to get back to LouiseAnna...
20th of December 2019. And we're off. Two days of sailing, one night watch, peanuts ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜œ
And a fish!!! That's been a very long time! Again a sneak preview of how the fishing is done. We put them slowly asleep with pure vodka ๐Ÿ˜ณ

And while we're cutting and cleaning the boat and this delicious yellowfin tuna, the girls are playing as is mamy ๐Ÿ˜›

See you at Moreton island!
