Another family run part 2: Les Saintes

We absolutely had to come back as it’s soooo beautiful. There’s a saying that goes around: “Everybody you met anywhere during your voyage, you will meet again in Les Saintes”. It’s quite true!
We are re-united to our friends again and many more boats we have crossed since leaving the Canary Islands are anchored in the “Anse du Bourg”.

This time we visited the main island Terre-de-Haut a bit more. First a cocktail and a visit of the village.  It’s soooo hot that the girls are enjoying a little fresh air, while we shop for a T-shirt for Geoffrey. Since he didn’t have any decent T-shirt anymore (used to wearing only shirts in Belgium), he decided to by one of every island or country we’ll pass.

The next day, we rented a car (these buggy's are the only ones available for rent), because I was under antibiotics and really not that well. The girls loved it! And so did daddy secretly!
First stop: the Fort of Napoleon.

Euh, the handbrake DOES NOT work…
It’s well worth a visit and you should wait for the guide that gives you a very interesting tour of the history of the island, the slavery and Guadeloupe.

The view is amazing and there are plenty of iguanas but well hidden … well almost all of them :-)

While I’m chilling’ on LouiseAnna, the tour around the island continues (easier with just five in the car 😌).  The cemetery is beautifully decorated with seashells (Lambis).
The beaches where we planned to spend the rest of the day are full with incredibly smelly Sargasses, so just a quick picture and then you have to take a run for it, because it’s unbearable!

The goats and chickens do not seem to mind the smell 😉

View from Pain de Sucre on the Anse du Bourg.
I did “force” myself to go out for dinner the next day.

Children’s menu:

Luckily we had already visited town, when suddenly 5 cruise ships (one hidden behind Pain de Sucre) arrived in the bay. Disembarkement and re-embarkement all day long…

So while we are waiting for the weather to calm down, grandma decides to make two handbags for the girls, with as much decoration as they want! They love them!

And then it’s time to say goodbye to Les Saintes (again) and head for Guadeloupe (again).
