We need a car
As our sail did not arrive on time in Cascais, we had to pick them up by car. We dropped my father and sister in law at the Lisbon airport and reserved a beautiful hotel in an excellent location in the old city centre.
After a road trip of 6 hours we found it would be a shame not to take the opportunity to spend some time in visiting this town Geoffrey loved so much.
The country side of Portugal and Spain is so peaceful. The wonderful mountain ranges and gorges we passed were well taken care off and a nice change of the coastal scenes from the past ten days :-)

In Lisbon the girls received a great ice cream to get them going for the long walk up and down, up and down …
Luckily getting back to the hotel was easier and funnier as we took the tram.

If you haven’t seen Lisbon yet, it should be on your city trip bucket list! You can easily spend 4 or 5 days visiting beautiful corners of this city.
Our last diner was just across the hotel in a trendy wine bar (Eating Bear). The wine was perfectly adapted to the great food prepared just in front of you.
The next day we went to pick up our sail in Cascais and had lunch in a restaurant (5 Sentidos) nearby that was fully booked when we passed with LouiseAnna. I know I'm talking almost only about restaurants and food now, but if you know us well, the culinary is just a big part of our life :-)
Adding a day of Cascais to your Lisbon trip is a bonus as this is a wonderful town with beautiful gardens, relaxed inhabitants and great tapas. I was amazed by how many Polish cars there were in Portugal and quite ashamed when Geoffrey told me the national number plate logically started with a “P”…
Louise and Anna are getting pretty used to it 😜

On the way to Gibraltar we promised the girls a swimming pool and managed to see the red moon in an unspoiled clear air as the hotel was quite far up the mountains.
Even though they like going to hotels, we were happy to be home again and eager to leave Gibraltar. A small gift for Louise and Anna and the long hours in the car were forgiven 😌 Long live Decathlon! 😝
