Visiting La Grande Motte

So in April 2017 we visited the Multihull Boat Show in La Grande Motte. We were just wondering which second hand catamaran we would buy. That was the original plan.

We visited almost every brand.

We recalculated budgets, looked at the positive and negative aspects of the different types of catamarans and had a lot of mojito's ;-)

A very happy night later, I convinced Geoffrey to re-visit the Nautitech Open 40.

The Nautitech Open 40 still looks like a sailing vessel and not so much a fancy loft with a lot of 'bling bling'. That's what attracted me the most.

The two navigation stations in the back of the boat were a big positive aspect to me personally, because you can see the whole crew (especially my two little girls) while manoeuvring.

It's a catamaran with a very large outdoor space under the hard top, perfect for tropical sailing.

The agent sensed our excitement and hesitation. How would she be on the water?
He kindly offered us a weekend at Arcachon to test the Open 40.

Having accepted a 'test run' we now had to seriously think about buying a new boat. We already explored that option before and had selected Lizmer as the leasing company that inspired us the most confidence.

A short cultural visit to Nîmes was the perfect background to make us dream about new places to visit. We kept on joggling numbers in order to convince ourselves a new boat under an LOA was THE best option 😏
